Electric hammer safety operating procedures

Oct 31, 2022

1. Personal protection when using an electric hammer

(1) The operator should wear protective glasses to protect the eyes, and when working face up, wear a protective mask.

(2) Earplugs should be plugged during long-term operation to reduce the impact of noise.

(3) After the long-term operation, the drill bit is in a burning state, and attention should be paid to burning the skin when replacing.

(4) When working, you should use the side handle and operate with both hands, and sprain the arm with the reaction force of the blocked rotor.

(5) Standing on a ladder or working at a height should take measures to fall from a height, and the ladder should be supported by ground personnel.

2. Precautions should be taken before work

(1) Confirm whether the power supply connected on site matches the hammer nameplate. Whether a leakage protector is connected.

(2) The drill bit and gripper should be adapted and properly installed.

(3) When drilling walls, ceilings and floors, first confirm whether there are buried cables or pipes.

(4) When working at height, pay full attention to the safety of objects and pedestrians below, and set up warning signs if necessary.

(5) Confirm whether the switch on the electric hammer is cut off, if the power switch is turned on, the power tool will turn unexpectedly and immediately when the plug is inserted into the power outlet, which may cause the risk of personal injury.

(6) If the work site is far from the power supply, when the cable needs to be extended, the capacity should be sufficient and a qualified extension cable should be installed. Extension cables such as through pedestrian aisles should be elevated or take measures to prevent the cable from being crushed and damaged.

3. Correct operation of electric hammer

"Percussion drilling" operation

(1) Pull the working mode knob to the impact rotary hole position.

(2) Put the drill bit to the position to be drilled, and then pull the switch trigger. The hammer drill only needs to be pushed lightly, allowing the chips to be discharged freely, and the push is not hard.

Chiseling, crushing" operations

(1) Pull the working mode knob to the "single hammer" position.

(2) Use the self-weight of the drilling rig for operation, and do not have to push hard.

"Drilling" operations

(1) Pull the working mode knob to the "drilled" (not hammered) position.

(2) Put the drill bit to the position where the hole needs to be drilled, and then pull the switch trigger. Just nudge.

4. Maintenance and inspection

(1) Check the drill bit

The use of dull or bent drill bits will make the motor overload surface abnormal and reduce the operation efficiency, so if such a situation is found, it should be dealt with and replaced immediately.

(2) Electric hammer body tightening screw inspection

Due to the impact of the electric hammer operation, it is easy to loosen the installation screw of the electric hammer body, and its fastening should be checked frequently, if the screw is found to be loose, it should be re-tightened immediately, otherwise it will lead to electric hammer failure.

(3) Check the carbon brush

The carbon brush on the motor is a consumable, once its wear exceeds the limit, the motor will fail, therefore, the worn carbon brush should be replaced immediately, and the carbon brush must always be kept clean.

(4) Protective grounding wire inspection

Protective grounding wire is an important measure to protect personal safety, so Class I appliances (metal shells) should always check that their shells should have good grounding.

(5)Check the dust cover

The dust cover is designed to protect dust from penetrating into the internal mechanism and should be replaced immediately if the inside of the dust cover wears out.
